Dog walker, Pet Sitter (drop-in and overnight), Vet Tech, Owner

I was born in Illinois but grew up just outside Albany, NY and have always had a big love for animals. In fact, my first word was cat. Not Mom or Dad, but cat. After high school, I returned to Illinois to attend Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. While attending SIU, I volunteered at Free Again Wildlife Rehab in Carterville, IL. I helped care for many animals, among them being an endangered South American cougar named Simba. He was confiscated at 3 months old from the illegal wildlife trade. Simba provided education to schools, as well as participating in my senior thesis. I also did an externship at the St. Louis Zoo’s Endangered Species Research Center and Veterinary Hospital. This was an invaluable experience and I am humbled to have been part of it.
After graduation, I moved to Seattle for the music scene and to become a “rock star”. Soon after arriving, my passion for animals found me working in my first veterinary hospital. I have worked in various practices during my 20 year career, earning the title Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2009. Through my experiences working in general practice as well as in the surgery department at a specialty clinic, I quickly realized my interests were in the field of pain management,  anesthesia, and client education, which I have centered my career around for the past 10 years.
Moving from Seattle to Tucson has been quite a change, and I am loving the sun! My other passions include creating art with wood as my medium, motorcycles, playing my drums, writing songs, relaxing with my family, and enjoying the desert scenery. I am really excited for this new chapter in my life and can’t wait to meet you and your animal companions.

The Pack

Animal rescue is our  passion. We have dedicated our lives to help those innocent lives who have been negatively affected by people. We wish we could save them all, but know that is impossible. Here is our current pack, our purpose, our reason, our hearts.
Picture
Ludovica, adopted in 2017. A rescue in Yakima, WA found her in a hoarding house along with her one day old puppies covered in fleas and filth. She was an amazing mother, and her four healthy babies were adopted as soon as they were ready. She spent almost a year in foster care due to her very shy personality, but we knew she was perfect for us as soon as we set our eyes on her.

Sweet little Fanny was our foster until December 2019 when we realized that life just would not be the same without her so we officially welcomed her home on Christmas day. She is blind with some neurologic difficulties. We don't know what happened to her, all we know is that she was found wondering the streets of Phoenix in June 2019, a week before she gave birth to a single puppy. She has come a long way since being with us and is the sweetest most loving little dogs!

Bertie, adopted in 2015 at approximately 7 weeks old. She was found laying in the middle of a busy road and brought into the hospital Julie was working at in Seattle, She had severe head trauma and neurologic damage to her front right leg. She had to have her leg amputated and it took many months to recover from everything she went through, but she thrives on three legs and is a happy healthy girl today.

Salvatore, adopted in 2011. He was a Seattle street cat that one of Julie’s previous co-workers took in. He has a very…strong personality and it just didn’t work with her other pets so we took him in. He is definitely our problem child, but he cracks us up and keeps the vermin at bay, so he earns his keep.
