Meet the Woof Pack
Julie Schwartz, BS, CVTDog walker, Pet Sitter (drop-in and overnight), Vet Tech, Owner
I was born in Illinois but grew up just outside Albany, NY and have always had a big love for animals. In fact, my first word was cat. Not Mom or Dad, but cat. After high school, I returned to Illinois to attend Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. While attending SIU, I volunteered at Free Again Wildlife Rehab in Carterville, IL. I helped care for many animals, among them being an endangered South American cougar named Simba. He was confiscated at 3 months old from the illegal wildlife trade. Simba provided education to schools, as well as participating in my senior thesis. I also did an externship at the St. Louis Zoo’s Endangered Species Research Center and Veterinary Hospital. This was an invaluable experience and I am humbled to have been part of it. After graduation, I moved to Seattle for the music scene and to become a “rock star”. Soon after arriving, my passion for animals found me working in my first veterinary hospital. I have worked in various practices during my 20 year career, earning the title Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2009. Through my experiences working in general practice as well as in the surgery department at a specialty clinic, I quickly realized my interests were in the field of pain management, anesthesia, and client education, which I have centered my career around for the past 10 years. Moving from Seattle to Tucson has been quite a change, and I am loving the sun! My other passions include creating art with wood as my medium, motorcycles, playing my drums, writing songs, relaxing with my family, and enjoying the desert scenery. I am really excited for this new chapter in my life and can’t wait to meet you and your animal companions. |
